Last Year's Festival:
In August of 2020 the North York Moors Chamber Music Festival refused to cancel despite the constraints of a worldwide pandemic.
Its passionate belief in finding ways to keep music alive by refusing to be silenced was groundbreaking, innovative and defiant. It was also a deeply moving experience.
Instead, it was one of the only classical music festivals to go ahead live as planned, to socially distanced audiences and without compromising on the length of festival nor number of concerts.
Despite the obvious challenges, musicians flew in from over six countries to enjoy a fortnight of electrifying music-making within a rarified environment, incorporating vast spaces to override risk or limitations.
Its joyful success, against these odds, gave voice to the festival’s ethos and innovation, as well as its commitment to the people and artists it clearly believes in.
